Kid Colt Outlaw #90

The Man From Fargo!

Kid Colt gets caught in what he thinks is an ambush. Hiding behind some rocks, Kid Colt sneaks around and gets the drop on the man shooting him. The man claims that he’s been hunted by Trigger Hoyt and his gang.

When they see dust rising in the distance, Kid Colt is distracted by the coming riders that he almost gets shot by the man claiming to be from Wells Fargo. This makes Kid Colt realize that this man is actually Trigger Hoyt and the men coming are the lawmen who have been chasing after him. Kid Colt quickly overpowers Trigger Hoyt and subdues him just as the law shows up. Quickly, Kid Colt makes a run for it and as he goes the sheriff orders his men to stand down, deducing that the Kid helped them catch their man.

Wanted!! Dead or Alive!!

Fleeing from the law, Kid Colt comes up to a cliff and makes the daring decision to make Steel leap into the river below. Although they survive the rapids, by the time they get to shore, Kid Colt is unconscious. He is found by a man and his son who take the Kid home and nurse him back to health. As he recovers he gets to know Ben White and his son Mike pretty well. He learns that Mike has an affliction with his leg that requires him to walk with a cane. His father has been saving up to get the boy an operation in St. Louise that will cure him of his condition. Realizing how long this will take and how determined Ben is to cure his son, Kid Colt hands one of his guns over to Ben and tells him to take him to the sheriff. Ben doesn’t understand it until they get to the sheriff’s office and learns that he has “caught” Kid Colt and that there is a huge reward for his capture. Ben is nearly speechless that Kid Colt would give up his freedom so his son can walk again, but it is a sacrifice that Kid Colt is willing to make.

Later, he hears the locals calling for the sheriff as the coach to St. Louis has been robbed by the Torgun Brothers. Kid Colt pleads with the sheriff to let him out as he can lead them to the Torgun’s hideout, so they can get Ben White his money back. However, the sheriff refuses to let him out. This forces Kid Colt to take some drastic actions. He calls Steel over to the window of his cell and retrieves a gun he has hidden in his saddle. Shooting open the lock, Kid Colt escapes and tracks down the Torgun Brothers and their gang. Easily outshooting them, he beats the outlaws into submission and recovers the money.

A short time later, Ben White receives a package in the mail and is delighted to see that it has the money they need for Mike’s surgery. Meanwhile, the sheriff returns to his jail and discovers that the Torgun Gang are all custody. They find a note from Kid Colt thanking the sheriff for all his hospitality.

Beware!! The Gun Wizard!

Kid Colt pulls into a town where the Tumbleweed Tent Show has set up. He decides to check it out since they boast having the Gun Wizard, who is billed as the greatest gunman of all time. As he watches the Gun Wizard perform gunslinging tricks, Kid Colt is convinced that he is a great gunfighter and wonders who this man really is. One of his tricks is to shoot the flame out of a lit match being held by his female assistant.

At the end of the show, the Gun Wizard tells the audience that he’ll teach anyone his tricks for $10 after the show. Kid Colt has never heard of a gunman selling his secrets and decides to check it out. He quickly learns that this is a scam as the only advice the Gun Wizard gives is to tell people to go home and practice.

When the Gun Wizard puts on his next show, Kid Colt calls him a fake and demands he gives people his money back. The Gun Wizard challenges Kid Colt to prove it. When they set up the match stick trick, Kid Colt insists that the assistant has a bandanna over her mouth. When the Gun Wizard balks at this, Kid Colt points out that the reason this “trick” works is because the assistant blows out the flame. When the Gun Wizard tries to pull his gun, Kid Colt is faster to the draw. He then forces the Gun Wizard to pay back all of his customers.

Then Kid Colt shows everyone what a real gunslinger can do with some real stunts. Not only does he shoot out a lit match while the female assistant has a bandanna over her mouth, but he also shoots the bandanna loose. After a series of other tricks, Kid Colt decides its time to go. When the owner of the circus offers Kid Colt a job he turns him down and rides off.
