Kid Colt Outlaw #92

Prisoner of the Durado Gang

Kid Colt is waiting in line at the bank when the Durado Gang comes crashing in on their horses to rob the place. When Kid Colt pulls his gun to try and stop them the bank patrons recognize him and think he is the leader of the gang. The leader of the Durado Gang gets behind the Kid and puts a gun to his back. After taking the Kid’s guns he forces the Kid to flee with the gang. Since he has been implicated in the robbery, Kid Colt has no choice but to return with the gang to their cave hideout

Furious with the gang, Kid Colt gives them a good fight but the leader of the Durado’s knocks him out from behind. They put Kid Colt on his horse as they intend on having the Kid front and center when they rob a stagecoach. The gang succeeds in forcing the coach to stop.

While the gang is busy robbing the coach, Kid Colt intentionally falls off his horse and grabs a rock from the ground and throws it at the leader of the gang. The blow causes the outlaw to drop his gun allowing Kid Colt to recover it from the ground. He then quickly disarms and subdues the gang. With the situation back under control, Kid Colt ignores the passenger’s plea to stay, saying the law won’t believe he wasn’t part of the Durado Gang. He’s wrong, unfortunately, as one of the passengers was the state governor who was willing to speak on his behalf.

Draw or Die, Mister!

Kid Colt has spent the past two days trying to keep a low profile in town. Unfortunately, this comes to an abrupt end when Slash Spade arrives at the local saloon. The notorious outlaw orders everyone to step away from the bar, but Kid Colt doesn’t comply. At first, Kid Colt thinks about resisting and then reminds himself that if he fights people might realize who he is. When he gets up out of his chair, Kid Colt is kicked to the ground by Slash Spade. This angers the Kid, but he reminds himself of what’s at stake and to bide his time. That’s when Slash Spade announces to the patrons that he is looking for Ben Herbert, intending to gun him down when he comes into the saloon and orders everyone to mind their business.

When Ben Herbert enters the saloon, Slash Spade confronts him about his testimony against Slash during his last trial. Herbert insists that he is doing his duty but this excuse only angers Slash even more and he orders Ben to draw. Kid Colt can’t sit back and let a man die and orders Slash to take his hands off his guns. Spade decides to kill the stranger who dared to interfere and reaches for his gun, but Kid Colt is faster at the draw and shoots Slash’s holster off his gunbelt. He then rushes Slash Spade and beats him into submission. After the fight is over the locals all know who he really is but instead of chasing Kid Colt out of town, they all welcome him instead.
