Kid Colt Outlaw Primer
Series Overview
Kid Colt was the second western hero of the Timely era to get his own title. The series was originally titled Kid Colt - Hero of the West for the first two issues, but changed to Kid Colt Outlaw after the third issue, a title the series would carry until the end of its run. The first 15 issues were published in the Timely era of publication. In the early issues, Kid Colt was paired up with backup stories featuring Timely’s “forgotten” western heroes: Blaze Carson and Tex Taylor starting with issue #3. Issue #7-9 featured appearances of Nimo the mountain lion. The series then dropped regular backup features in favor of filling space with one-off western stories on top of the two-to-three average Kid Colt tales.
Other than the premiere issue introducing Kid Colt and providing an origin for the character, the series didn’t really do much to expand upon a character. Each story was about Kid Colt on the run from the law coming to the aid of people in need and leaving town.
