Doctor Nemesis

Doctor James Bradley is one of many doctors and nurses that have been called to the scene of a rail accident. When they arrive at the scene they discover that a rail bridge has collapsed. Noticing one of the train cars is in the water and sinking, Bradley risks his life to go in and help get the trapped passengers free. One of the passengers that helps him with the injured is wearing broken handcuffs. James quickly recognizes him as Mack Keller, a man slated to be executed for murder. When James asks Mack why he didn’t flee, Mack insists that he is innocent and will be cleared of his crimes.

Once he gets Keller to shore, James pulls him aside and injects the convict with his truth serum. Entering a trance, Mack Keller insists that he was innocent, saying he was framed by someone. When the serum wares off, James quickly leaves Mack with the other survivors. Keller briefly considers making a run for it when he notices that he has a business card from someone calling himself Doctor Nemesis. A note scrawled on the business card tells Keller to be patient as his name will be cleared.

The next evening, after he is finished his work for the day, James Bradley changes into Doctor Nemesis and pays a visit to Mack Keller’s mother. Mrs. Keller tells Doctor Nemesis that her son did not commit the murder because he was with Joe Martin, a local politician, at the time. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, Martin refused to confirm Mack’s alibi. Doctor Nemesis decides to pay Martin a visit. When the masked stranger climbs in through the window, Martin raises the alarm. However, the Doctor is able to knock out the two armed men who come rushing into the room. Cornering Martin, Doctor Nemesis injects him with his truth serum.

Under the spell of the serum, Joe reveals that he owed Bumps Burke some large gambling debts and agreed to frame Mack Keller in order to save his own hide. With this new bit of information, Doctor Nemesis confronts Bumps Burke at a nearby pool hall. The ensuing fight attracts the attention of the police who demand to know what is going on. By this point, Doctor Nemesis has managed to inject Burke with his truth serum forcing the crook to make a confession. In the confusion, Nemesis flees the scene leaving his business card behind. The next day when James Bradley reports to work he is happy to see that Bump Burke’s confession helped save Mack Keller’s life.
