Ringo Kid #9
Man Trap
The Ringo Kid is ambushed by two outlaws named Duke Geiger and Hammer Clune who seek to get revenge against Ringo's father Cory Rand for landing them in jail. The Kid refuses to tell them even tied up and with guns trained on him. Before they can harm the Ringo Kid, Marshal Bulldog Peyton gets the drop on them and forces Clune and Geiger to let the Kid go and sends them packing. But the two outlaws vow to get revenge against Peyton. The Ringo Kid thanks Peyton for his help, but learns that Peyton has a warrant to arrest the Kid's father.
Ringo meets up with his father and that night as they are camping out the Kid tells his father of the outlaws and the lawman that are out to get him. Knowing that Peyton is a man of honour, both Cory and Ringo agree to protect him from Geiger and Clune even though the lawman is out to rent Cory.
The next day, Geiger and Clune spot Peyton riding across the range and decide to follow after him to get revenge, unaware that they are being watched by the Ringo Kid and his father. When Duke tries to send a boulder crashing down on Peyton, Cory sneaks up behind him and knocks him off the cliff, sending him falling in front of Peyton. Peyton, unable to stop leaves Duke where he is and moves on. When Clune attempts to shoot him with a rifle, Cory rushes up and knocks Peyton off his horse, saving his life. Soon the Ringo Kid beasts Clune into submission and turns him over to Peyton. Going back to take Duke into custody as well, Peyton thanks the two outlaw heroes for saving his life by pretending like he lost the warrant he has for Cory's arrest.
