Battle #25

Battle Brady in Korea!

While driving back to base in a jeep, Battle Brady and Socko Swenski are ambushed by Chinese gorilla soldiers disguised as Korean peasants lobbing grenades at their transport. Spotting one of them trying to flee with a briefcase full of secrets, the pair manage to stop him and take the gorilla fighters prisoner, taking them back to base. They turn over their prisoners to Colonel Grannet. Granenet introduces them to Nim Yang Sang, the chief of the South Korean National Police who is on the look out for a Chinese operative known as the Wasp who has been organizing gorilla warfare in the area. Sang tells them how there is 40,000 gorilla soldiers active in the region. When Colonel Grannet asks if Battle and Socko wish to accomapny Nim Yang Sang on his hunt for the Wasp, the pair agree to join in.

They go on patrol when their jeep is suddenly stopped by a woman who claims that her farm is under attack by gorillas nearby. They get out and go to investigate but soon realize they have fallen for a trap when the woman suddenly pulls a gun on them and reveals herself to be the Wasp. The Wasp explains that she is taking them hostage so they can help her and her minions cross American lines. She rides with Sang and Socko in the jeep while Battle rides in a wagon with one of her men. Along the way, Battle offers his guard a cigarette, which the Chinese gorilla happily accepts. As he hands over the smoke, Battle tosses the lit match at the horse causing it to stampede. Battle then jumps onto the cayuse and frees it from his reigns and rides away, leaving the wagon to uncontrollably speed off a cliff sending the Wasp's confederate to fall to his death.

Battle then races ahead to the jeep and tackles the Wasp while Socko keeps her distracted. However, one of her bullets goes through the the gas tank stalling the jeep. With gorillas on the move in wagons and no way to signal the rest of the National Police, Battle uses some bamboo to make a crude bow and arrow and launches a flaming arrow at the approaching wagons, setting the hay on fire. This gets the attention of the National Police who come to investigate and the gorilla soldiers are soon rounded up and captured. In the aftermath Sang thanks the two American's for their help and jokingly suggest that they stay and help out, saying that it must be a nice rest from being on the front lines.
