Araña and her mage, Miguel Ledger, have tracked down a pair of crooks and attack them. Although Araña’s spider carapace is acting up due to a cold, she easily beats the two men into submission. Miguel thens starts questioning them about judge Thomas Bander. One of the men is more than willing to talk when it’s suggested that Araña might drink their blood. They soon get in touch with Ted Mankowski, Webcorp’s resident hacker. Knowing that the judge is stealing information from the Court of Appeals for the Sisterhood of the Wasp and is tasked with hacking into their databases to learn what that information is. As he does this, Nina Smith calls in to get directions as she intends on getting to the court building before Niña and Miguel do to act as back-up.

Once they arrive at the courthouse, Miguel sends Araña ahead in the hopes of catching Bander in the act of stealing information, telling the young woman to call him on her cell if there is any trouble. After Ted disables the security cameras, Araña pries open the fence and begins scaling the side of the building. Back on the ground, Miguel casts a dimness spell for added stealth so he can sneak onto the property himself.

When Thomas Bender arrives in his office, he is confronted by Araña, who has encased her body in her spider carapace. When he tries to shoot her, the bullet bounces harmlessly off her armor. When she begins questioning him about his connection to the Sisterhood of the Wasp, the judge realizes that he’s dealing with the spider. However, before he can flee, he runs into Miguel who puts him to sleep with a spell. That’s when an army of Wasp soldiers come rushing at the courthouse. Tipped off by Nina, Miguel orders Araña to get Thomas out to Nina’s car while he handles the Wasps, When she protests this, Miguel reminds her that he can hold his own and that she is sick. She manages to get Bander to the extraction point and as Nina speeds off, Araña deals with the Wasps that have arrived Although her cold gives a small bit of grief, she manages to take them down.

With the battle over, Araña got up onto the rooftops so she can look down on the city and think about all the people she knows who live down below. She then gets a call from Miguel who tells her that Thomas was successfully brought in for questioning and they hope to get him to flip on the Sisterhood of Wasps. He then orders Anya to take the next few days off to get over her cold. Returning to the apartment where she lives with her father, Gil Corazon, Araña is pleased to smell that her father has been cooking carne frita. When Gil asks his daughter how her internship at Webcorps is going she changes the subject quickly by going to do her chores. When they sit down to dinner, Gil gets a call from his partner, Dave, indicating that her father is going to be up all night working on a deadline. When she asks what he’s working on, he tells her how he is investigating a man named Michael Mascarpone for possible corruption after he was let off by judge Thomas Bender. Interested, she asks her father if she can read his story when he’s finished.

That evening, while Anya falls asleep doing homework and her father works late into the evening, Miguel Legar stands outside their apartment. keeping a watchful eye on the home of his charge He can hardly believe that the next hunter for the Spider Society is a 15-year-old girl from Brooklyn. He knows that he is in for a long haul but is confident that the struggle will be worth the effort.
