Anya Corazon dreams of her childhood. In this dream she is looking for her father and finds him outside with a other mourners as this is the day of her mother’s funeral. She spots a man lurking in the corner wearing a tan suit and hat. Her father has the maid send his daughter inside while he confronts this man for daring to show his face at his wife’s funeral. Anya is unaware that this dream is being observed by her partner, Miguel Legar, who hopes that Anya will never remember the details of this dream for the good of her curious nature as they both had dark childhoods. As he thinks this, the scene shifts to a memory of his own childhood. Miguel was alone as the tribal village of his people burns to the ground. He thinks that Anya is too young to know the truth and wonders how he can help her. That’s when he wakes up and discovers that it is snowing outside. Also waking up at this time is Anya, who also notices the snow and remembers that she left her brand new scooter outside. When she races to her meeting at Webcorps, Anya is shivering after driving her scooter in the winter weather.
They soon get down to business, with the success of their capturing Lady Chi they are setting their sights on another crime boss who has gathered for a conference being hosted by the Sisterhood of the Wasp. Nina Smith pulls up a profile on their next target, a South American cartel leader named Felix Jade. When they pull up a picture of Jade, Anya recognizes him as the man from his dream, the man who was responsible for killing his mother. She is determined to take Jade down, but she also wants her father to know that she had done so even, a problematic issue given the veil of secrecy that Webcorps operates under and debates about going after Felix on her own. That’s when she realizes that she had been thinking so hard she didn’t even notice that the meeting was over and that everyone has left. As she leaves the meeting room, however, Anya has decided that she is going to go after Jade alone and explain herself later.
Later that evening, Felix Jade’s arrival in New York had been leaked to the CIA, but thankfully the Wasp has sent Vincent to use his magic to facilitate try and shake the authorities. They are now being chased by unmarked vehicles. Luckily, Amun is there and as they approach a raising bridge, the young assassin kills the operator and activates the bridge. Vincent then uses his magic to levitate their car across the gap, leaving the authorities behind. Watching this from a nearby rooftop, Miguel insists on holding off, wanting the authorities to wear down Jade before they strike. Miguel returns to Webcorp and catches Anya trying to sneak out of the parking garage with a bunch of stolen equipment. However, Miguel thinks this is far too dangerous, especially since they don’t know if Felix Jade has any superhuman abilities. Anya, however, doesn’t see it that way thinking she can take Jade down and if all else fails she can summon the Hunter. She doesn’t remember how much control she lost the last time she summoned the Hunter and as such, Miguel refuses to allow her to go off on her own. When she dares him to stop her, Miguel casts a spell that ensnares her in a mystical web.[1] He he leaves, Miguel calls Ted and tells him to get Nina as they are going after Jade right away. When Ted comments that Nina won’t be happy about being called back into the field just after she got home, but Miguel says she’ll have to get in line since he’s not very popular today. As he leaves, Anya calls out to Miguel, demanding that he let her go.
