Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #10
The Janus Chamber
I’m not going to spend my time writing about this story at length. What you need to know is that it takes place in a world where the Modern Age of heroes occurs in the 1960s. Captain America is called on a mission to secure a military base that has been taken over by MODOK.
MODOK is trying to steal something called the Janus Chamber which causes both to experince psychedelic hallucinations. Cap also discovers that Dino Minelli, the Howling Commando turned Vegas lounge act, was replaced with a killer robot with erectile dysfunction (I’m not making that last part up).
There is also a sub-plot involving JFK’s extramarital affairs and his assassination sandwiched in for good measure.
Continuity Notes
This story clearly takes place in an alternate reality as it is set in the 1960s as though that’s when Captain America was revived from suspended animation. However, as of this writing (December, 2022), it has yet to be provided a reality number.
