Fantastic Four #100
The Long Journey Home!
With their flying saucer destroyed, the Fantastic Four become the targets of the Mad Thinker and Puppet Master's latest scheme to get revenge on the Fantastic Four, this time using android duplicates of the Fantastic Four’s various foes. The team is ambushed by android duplicates of Kang the Conqueror, and Doctor Doom. While the team wonders why these foes are attacking them, the Thinker and Puppet Master gloat over the impending victory over the Fantastic Four and unleash the next wave of their duplicates.
By this time, Reed has examined the remains of their foes and realizes that they were not the real Kang and Doom, but mechanical duplicates. They are then ambushed by a duplicate of the Kree Sentry. After destroying this latest attacked, Johnny has managed to find some camels to help them travel across the desert. Along the way, they are attacked by a duplicate of Dragon Man. After destroying this next menace they come to a body of water where they are ambushed by a phony Sub-Mariner and an army of fake Atlantean warriors. While the male members of the team handle this threat, the Invisible Girl and Crystal are distracted by attacks from duplicates of the Hate-Monger and Super-Skrull. After destroying these impostors they help Reed and the others destroy the fake Atlanteans.
Coming upon a town they are loaned a car but their trip is once more interrupted by yet another ambush, this time by robot duplicates of the Red Ghost and the Super-Apes and the Frightful Four. The Fantastic Four make short work of these attackers as well. Back at their hideout, the Puppet Master and Mad Thinker have created their latest duplicate, on the Hulk, hoping it will destroy their foes. Unfortunately, this Hulk proves as unstable as the real thing and it brings down the villain’s lair. By this point, the Fantastic Four have managed to hitch a ride back to the United States from the Air Force. With the wave of phone villains over, the group wonder who was responsible for the attack.
