Spotting some masked men walking into the Calico Bank and not a lawman around, Kid Colt decides to intervene. Despite his efforts the outlaws make an escape in a stolen stagecoach. Unable to get a clear shot without hitting one of the horses, the Kid runs up to the coach and grabs onto it. Crawling under the speeding coach, Kid Colt waits until they are out of town before shooting the traces, freeing the horses and causing the coach to crash. That’s when the law comes to arrest them all.

Back in town, Kid Colt talks with the sheriff who tells him that these men are members of Chip Malloy’s gang and he won’t rest until he frees his men. Since the local law enforcement needs to bring the outlaws to Huntersville for trial, Kid Colt agrees to transport them to make sure they don’t get away. The trip takes them into the evening and Kid Colt sets up camp. However, he’s certain he’s being watched and decides to keep on moving his prisoners.

Sure enough, Chip and his men try to ambush Kid Colt but he is ready for them. When Kid Colt arrives in Huntersville he arrives with six prisoners instead of the original three they were expecting.

The teacher fears that the boy was shot by one of his bullets. Kid Colt can’t believe it and rushes the boy to the local doctor. Although he was confident of his shooting skills earlier, by the time he reaches the doctor doubt has begun to set in as he considers the possibility that the bullet could have ricocheted off something and struck the boy. The Treasure of Sierra Blanco!

Kid Colt is passing through an abandoned town when an elderly man dressed in an old Spanish soldier’s uniform and old flintlock pistol ambushes him and tells him to leave because this land is owned by the Wilders. Kid Colt explains that he only came looking for water since they are surrounded by desert and will gladly leave once he and his horse get a drink. Since the old man is too paranoid to let him step further, Kid Colt says he understands and turns to leave. That’s when the old-timer changes his mind and lets him in.

Kid Colt goes to an old well and when he draws water from it he discovers that he has also pulled out gold coins along with the water. Uninterested in the gold, Kid Colt tosses it back down the well since he only came for water. As he leaves, Kid Colt thanks the old man for the water. The old man apologizes for being so aggressive earlier, saying that years back the original Spanish settlers gave this entire town to his father for opening their chappel because his father was a traveling missionary. The story gets more strange as the settlers moved to Mexico and told the old man’s father would find his reward someday. There are legends that Sierra Blanco had gold in its waters. Having seen it first hand himself, Kid Colt departs saying that there is a lot of truth in that old legend.

Back out in the desert, Kid Colt runs into some outlaws who are looking for the treasure of Sierra Blanco. He tries to convince them that there’s nothing in the abandoned town but a crazy old man. But they insist on looking anyway. Kid Colt tries to drive them off but they have him outgunned. Kid Colt runs back to the town and with the help of the old man disarms all the outlaws. After tying the badmen up, Kid Colt reveals the location of the hidden gold to the old man. He thanks Kid Colt for showing him where the treasure is as he intends to use the money to fix up the town so decent folk have a place to live.
