Kid Colt Outlaw #95
On the Rampage
Scarecrow Jace confronts Kid Colt and challenges him to a duel, but Kid Colt wants anything to do with the outlaw. When he realizes he can’t dissuade Scarecrow to back down, Kid Colt agrees to duel. However, Jace draws his gun before Kid Colt can draw his gun and shoots him. Seeing this, the sheriff accuses Scarecrow for attempted murder but he says it was all an accident. Instead of taking him to jail, the sheriff tells Jace to get out of town. By this time, the town doctor examines Kid Colt and determines that the bullet only grazed his scalp. When Kid Colt comes around he surprises everyone by being aggressive toward the doctor and sheriff and warns anyone who gets in his way he will shoot first and ask questions later. Everyone is shocked by this sudden change in attitude and the doctor theorizes that his head injury is the likely cause. The sheriff doesn’t need this, saying he has enough trouble from One-Eye Borden’s gang that he doesn’t need Kid Colt causing additional trouble for him.
Kid Colt goes into the saloon and when the bartender offers him a glass of milk — Kid Colt’s usual drink — he slaps the beverage out of his hand and asks for a real drink. That’s when one of the locals comes in and warns everyone that One-Eye Borden is coming into town. As everyone panics, Kid Colt shoots his gun into the air telling nobody to leave until he says so. He then strong arms one of the patrons and tells him to go outside and tells One-Eye Borden that Kid Colt wants to join his gang. When the town doctor goes to warn the sheriff that One-Eye is coming into town, the sheriff tells him to get to cover hoping that One-Eye and Kid Colt will deal with each other. While outside of town, the saloon patron has just passed along his message to One-Eye Borden who decides to take Kid Colt up on his offer and heads the rest of the way into town with his gang in tow.
Back in town, Kid Colt is ranting like a lunatic, telling the gathered saloon patrons that he is tired of being harassed and hounded for the law, telling them that if they wanted to treat him like an outlaw they’ll get their wish, that he’ll become such a terror he’ll make Jesse James seem like a piker by comparison. When One-Eye and his gang arrive they are doubtful of Kid Colt’s sudden change in character but he proves how ruthless he is by beating one of Borden’s men into submission. Kid Colt then tells them to stop wasting time, saying that they should rob the local bank right away. With no opposition from the townspeople, Kid Colt and his new allies easily rob the bank and flee back to One-Eye Borden’s hideout. There he shows Kid Colt that he hides his stolen loot under a floorboard in the cabin. Kid Colt then suggests that they lure the sheriff and his posse out to their hideout so they can kill them as a warning to other lawmen not to interfere with the Borden gang.
When the sheriff arrives with his posse, Kid Colt suddenly changes sides and helps the lawmen takedown One-Eye Borden and his gang. With the gang in custody, Kid Colt shows the sheriff where they stash their stolen loot. The town doctor is confused by this sudden change in character and that’s when the sheriff and Kid Colt reveal that they staged the whole thing in order to lay a trap for the Borden gang.

They Called Him Chicamaw!
When a Native American man named Chicamaw enters a saloon the locals try to bull him by trying to make him dance. After fighting off Chicamaw’s attackers they recognize who Kid Colt really is prompting both men to flee the scene. As they split up, Chicamaw thanks Kid Colt for his help.
Later, Kid Colt’s horse Steel starts limping and he realizes that the horse has a thorn stuck on him. When he dismounts to deal with it, the men from the saloon ambush him to get revenge. Kid Colt is outnumbered and outgunned, but that’s when Chicamaw arrives to defend his friend, and he’s not alone either. With him is an entire army of Navaho warriors. Chicamaw reveals to his bullies that he wasn’t just a lowly Native American, but Chicamaw Roaring Wolf, the chief of his tribe. Chicamaw tells Kid Colt that his earlier kindness has made him a brother to the Navaho. Kid Colt then leaves the bullies from the saloon to pay for disrespecting Chicamaw.
