Kid Komics #1
Captain Wonder
The criminal known as Mister Death has just escaped from Pentmore Prison. Gloating over his flawless escape he vows to teach the world to know why he is called death. As he eludes the authorities, Mister Death thinks of the events that led to his transformation…
A few months earlier a geologist named Doctor Martin was about to explore the Endless Caverns, a cave system that — as the name suggests — is supposedly endless. Monthly later Doctor Martin was believed to be lost when he fails to emerge from the cavern for months. However, some park rangers soon witness Martin emerging from the cave. To their surprise he has visibly aged and has grown long hair and a bear. He tries to convince them to use dynamite to seal the cavern but dies before he can explain why. Thinking Martin had gone mad, the two rangers discover how wrong they are when Mister Death emerges from the cavern and kills them both with a mere wave of his hands. Emerging from the mountains, Mister Death heads down into the city below.
At that moment, in New York City, some boys are playing football. When one of the boys is injured they decide to try and ask their teacher, Professor Jeff Jordan, to play with them. However, when one of the kids slips he accidentally throws the ball against Jordan’s head. This gets a good laugh from Steve Brent, the gym teacher. When the kids ask Jordan to play, Brent mocks Jeff for not being able to formulate a response. The boys quickly ignore Jordan, since Mister Brent is always making fun of him for being a bookworm. Later in the gym, Brent spouts off about how week Tim Jordan is, suggesting he should be expelled from the school.
Despite his, Professor Jordan excels a science teacher and while giving a lecture to the students he catches Tim Mulrooney snapping a rubber band at him and tells Tim to stay after class. While they are working in the lab, Jordan shows Tim a formula he concocted that he claims will give someone the strength of a dozen men. Unfortunately, the professor fumbles the vial and drops it on the ground, shattering it. The room suddenly fills with gas knocks Jordan out. When Tim wakes him up, Professor Jordan discovers that he has been endowed with great strength. Deciding to use his newfound strength to finally stand up to Steve Brent . Be challenges Brent to a boxing match and easily trounces him.
Returning to his laboratory with Tim, Jordan decides to use his newfound powers to stamp out evil and puts on a costume he prepared for this moment. Once in costume, Professor Jordan introduces himself to Tim as Captain Wonder.
Going out on patrol the following night, Captain Wonder comes across Mister Death as he attempts to claim another victim. However, Captain Wonder intervenes. Mister Death soon discovers that Captain Wonder is immune to his power and is beaten into submission. With Mister Death tied up, Captain Wonder calls the police to pick him up. Wonder then returns to the school where he tells Tim that his first mission was a complete success. In order to maintain his secret identity, Professor Jordan shows Tim an antidote formula that reverts him back to his normal self. The next day, Jordan convinces Mister Brent that their boxing match was all a dream. When he meets with Tim, he shows the boy that he has developed a special ring that will allow him to administer his wonder formula and the antidote at the bush of a button. That’s when Tim has a surprise for him and reveals that he made his own costume as well. He threatens to tell everyone Professor Jordan is really Captain Wonder unless he agrees to allow Tim to join him on his future adventures.
Having anticipated that Tim would try this, Professor Jordan reveals that he made a wonder formula ring for Tim as well….
Back in the present day, Mister Death stalks the streets once more, looking for Captain Wonder. He happens upon Wonder and Tim while they are out on patrol. Having developed a new pointing death technique he uses it on Captain Wonder. However, Tim manages to pull Mister Death’s arm away long enough for Captain Wonder to recover. The hero then hits Mister Death so hard he lands on a table covered with chemicals and he bursts into flame on contact, killing Mister Death. That’s when Captain Wonder reveals Mister Death’s secret, he didn’t have the power to kill people on his own but actually sprayed poison gas into the faces of his victims. After turning the corpse over to the authorities, Professor Jordan and Tim resue their normal lives.

Knuckles and Whitewash
In the town of Midvale, Knuckles is walking down the street minding his own business when he is shot in the butt with a pea-shooter. As he runs around the corner to see who shot at him he passes his friend Whitewash Jones. It takes a moment or two before Knuckles realizes that Whitewash was the culprit. When O’Toole asks where the rest of the Young Allies are, Jones tells him that they are looking for Jeff. Their friend has been missing for so long, even the police are involved in the search.
As they walk back home it starts getting dark. They happen to walk past the old haunted house. Whitewash figures that if Jeff were with them he’d insist that they investigate the run-down house. That’s when Knuckles figures that’s what happened to Jeff and suggests that they go looking for him inside. While Knuckles is ready to go running into the house, Whitewash is afraid they might run into ghosts. Inside, Whitewash is frightened when there is a popping sound. Looking around, Knuckles points out that was a mouse setting off a match. Walking around in the dark, they then run into what they think are other people, but Knuckles quickly turns on the lights to reveal that the “people” are nothing more than empty suits of armor. Searching the basement they find that the house is totally deserted and Knuckles suggests that they leave.
However, once they get to the front door it suddenly slams shut and won’t open. That’s when they hear footsteps coming and they hide behind a changing screen. However, their cover is blown when the dust causes Whitewash to sneeze, knocking the screen over. It falls on top of someone who begins yelling at them to get off. That’s when Jeff enters the room and tells Knuckles and Whitewash to get off the carpenter. When they ask Jeff what’s going on, he explains that his father bought this old house to fix it up so the Young Allies can use it as a headquarters. Jeff then goes on to say that he went into hiding because he was afraid he might spoil the surprise. In response to this, Whitewash shoots Jeff with his pea shooter and both he and Knuckles make a run for it.
