Lorna the Jungle Girl #23
Zambalai!
Swinging through the jungle, Lorna and Mikki discover a baby elephant stuck in a watering hole and helps it get back to the rest of its herd. That’s when she hears someone shout the word “Zambalai” and goes to check out the source. Deeper in the jungle, Lorna is surprised to see what appears to be a jungle man shouting and beating his chest. When this man begins swinging on a vine toward her, Lorna thinks it is an attacking and leaps at him. That’s when a director shouts cut.
As it turns out she interrupted the shooting of a jungle picture called “Zambalai” and she is told to get offset. Concerned that these filmmakers might get into trouble in the jungle, Lorna doubles back and discovers that they are actually uranium poachers and attacks them. After subduing the phony film crew, she ties them up and walks them to the local authorities.

The Lost Legion!
While exploring the jungle with Greg Knight, Lorna suggests they get back to a safer part of the jungle as she senses they are being watched. That’s when they are ambushed by what appears to be an army of Roman soldiers. While the pair fight back, the leader of the Romans, Marcus Abellus is instantly smitten with Lorna. Eventually, Lorna and Greg are taken prisoner and learn that these Romans traveled to this region hundreds of years ago. As they are trespassers in their domain, Marcus decrees that they must die.
They are brought before the ruling tribunal who decree that their fate will be determined in the arena. Lorna is forced to fight a lion but she easily subdues the big cat. Marcus orders her to kill the lion and tosses her a knife. Instead, she leaps up and cuts a leg of chicken from a feast in the stands and uses it to feed the lion. The Romans view this as very loyal, the Romans agree to let her and Greg go free as long as they promise to never trespass on their domain again.

Trapped!
Greg Knight takes Walt Grimm out to hunt for a rhino. After they succeed in hunting and kill one of the massive beasts, Greg tells Grimm that he has reached his quota. Grimm still wants to hunt more rhinos and later sneaks out to hunt one on his own. While Greg is out looking for him, Grimm digs a pit to trap a rhino and ends up getting chased into it by one of the beasts he is hunting. Trapped in the pit, Walt Grimm cries for help. When Greg arrives on the scene he is forced to kill the Rhino in order to save Walt. Greg decides to leave Walt in the pit until he learns his lesson.

Beware the Python!
Greg Knight takes Michael Hanning into the jungle so he can search for rare breeds of flowers. When the pair end up in the path of a charging rhino, Lorna swoops in to rescue them. Lorna is there to save them from a python later on. However, it later turns out that Hanning is actually searching for a long lost pirate treasure. However, when he finds the lost loot he is attacked by another python necessitating another rescue from Lorna. After his third brush with death, Michael Hanning admits that he got Greg out on false pretense and decides he’s in over his head, deciding it’s safer to study flowers back home in New York City.
