Administering a cancer cure to Tempest Monroe has blown up in Spider-Man’s face. Hours after the cure, Tempest has suddenly transformed into a wasp creature. As the creature shoves him out of the apartment window, Miguel struggles to understand why this happened. His best guess is that when he obtained the cure in 2099 it was somehow tainted by Tyler Stone.[1]

As they fly through the air, Spider-Man tries to get Tempest to remember who she is, but she won’t listen. The two then crash into the side of a helicopter allowing Miguel to break free and fly down to Central Park for cover. There he asks Lyla, his holographic assistant, and asks her to check her Alchemax files on anything about the cancer cure re-writing DNA.

Meanwhile, Tempest has flown down to the park and confuses a statue with a giant spider and flies into it. That’s when she is spotted by a beat cop who pulls her gun and orders Tempest to get on the ground. In her frenzied state, Tempest then charges at the officer who opens fire. While back in the trees, Miguel learns that this is a common side effect of the cancer cure and that it will wear off anywhere between six to six hours after transformation.

By this time, Tempest has taken the officer hostage and demands Spider-Man come out and face her. Spider-Man comes out and forces Tempest to let go of her hostage by using the officer’s gun to shoot at her. Although Tempest’s body armor protects her from serious harm, the force of the bullets pushes her closer to the nearby lake. Once she is close enough to the water, Miguel tackles her into the water. Spider-Man struggles in the water with Tempest, but his struggle is a losing battle as he starts running out of air. With no other choice, he tells Tempest that he’s actually Miguel. Hearing that name causes Tempest to scream in agony and suddenly pass out.

Moments later, Spider-Man is dragging Tempest out of the lake as police arrive on the scene. They order Spider-Man to surrender, but they are shocked when Tempest suddenly reverts to human form. Before the police can stop him, Spider-Man then takes off and brings Tempest back to her apartment and puts her back in bed. When Tempest wakes up she weakly asks Spider-Man what happened. He tells her about his the cure he gave her turned her into a wasp-like creature and assures her that she’s back to normal now. He then asks Tempest if she remembers anything from when was turned into the monster, but she tells him she doesn’t remember anything.

With the danger over, Spider-Man tells Tempest to get some sleep and wishes her goodnight. After he closes the bedroom door, Tempest wishes Miguel a good night as well.
