The Short Halloween

Spider-Man is chasing after a new criminal calling himself Fumes. This would usually be a pretty easy job but tonight is Halloween and the villain tries to lose the web-slinger by blending into a crowd of costumed people celebrating the evening. Running into some of the revelers, Fumes tells them that he’s a super-villain and part of a group caled the Furious Five. When Spider-Man is spotted swinging their way, Fumes uses his gas powers to propel himself into the air.

Meanwhile, a guy named Ronnie (dressed as Spider-Man) is thrown out of a bar throw being drunk and trying to start a fight with some patrons who have dressed up as some of Spider-Man’s foes. His friends Doug (dressed as Hunter S. Thompson) and Eric (dressed as Shaun of the Dead) try to diffuse the situation as they call for a cab. However, the guys who had a drink thrown in their faces overhear where the cab is taking them and decide to get even. On the cab ride back, Eric and Doug are surprised hot girls would want to talk to a guy dressed as Doctor Octopus then start bickering over their own lame costumes. As they argue, Ronnie passes out.

When they get out of the cab, they stop while Ronnie throws up on the sidewalk. Meanwhile, above them, Spider-Man tries to stop Fumes but gets struck on the head and falls over the side of the building. He lands on top of Ronnie. His friends try to figure out which one is which and end up picking up the real Spider-Man while leaving Ronnie passed out in a pile of trash. On the rooftop, Fumes fears that he killed Spider-Man until he looks down and sees Ronnie passed out on the street. Thinking this is the real Spider-Man, Fumes rushes down to capture who he thinks is Spider-Man.

At that same moment, Eric and Doug have gotten Spider-Man into Ronnie’s apartment. That’s when Ronnie’s girlfriend, Cheryl, arrives and begins yelling for Ronnie to come out. While, not far away, Fumes ties up the real Ronnie at a construction site and calls his teammates to tell them what happened. Mister Think answers the phone and is surprised to hear that Fumes has captured Spider-Man. Haymaker, Gossip Girl and Badger Teeth all want to destroy Spider-Man and head for the construction site. At that same time, Cheryl has come up into Ronnie’s apartment and assumes her boyfriend got black out drunk again. She has decided that this is the last time and tells the sleeping man in the Spider-Man costume that she is leaving him. When she goes to kiss “Ronnie” on the wrist, she triggers Spider-Man’s web-shooters which spray webbing into her face.

Meanwhile, the Fearsome Five are arguing over what to do with Spider-Man. Badger Teeth insists that they kill the wall-crawler but Gossip Girl and Mister Think point out that they can’t prove they did it unless they take a picture. As they argue, Fumes thinks about how his father wanted him to get into the family business of vacuum repair and realizes he doesn’t want to be a super-villain anymore and tries getting “Spider-Man” away before he can get hurt. While across the street, Cherly tells Eric and Doug that the man in the living room is not Ronnie but the real Spider-Man. That’s when the guys from the bar arrive to beat the guys up. Spider-Man wakes up meanwhile, and at first he thinks he is being attacked by his greatest foes but quickly realize that these are just Halloween revellers that are in costumes. When they try to trash Eric’s flat screen television he tries to stop them and gets knocked out the window. Spider-Man saves him and Doug — thinking his friend is dead — beats up the phony villains instead.

At that same time, in the construction yard, Fumes is caught trying to free “Spider-Man” and his teammates turn on him. By this time, Ronnie has woken up from his blackout and knocks out Badger Teeth with a pipe. As Spider-Man leaves Ronnie’s apartment with is friends they see the rest of the Fearsome Five running for their lives. In the construction yard, they find Ronnie who is perfectly fine. When Spider-Man finds some of Fume’s discarded equipment he decides to follow him. He watches as Fumes returns the stolen jewels. When he walks home, one reveller asks him what he is dressed up as and Fumes tells them that he’s a vacuum cleaner repairman. Watching this Spider-Man decides that this has been the best Halloween ever.
