Siege continues from Siege: Captain America #1…
In Asgard, above the city of Broxton, Oklahoma,[1] Venom knows that Norman Osborn’s time in charge is running out.[2] In the meantime, he is going to have fun while it lasts. He takes particular pleasure in the taste of Asgardian flesh. He is interrupted by Spider-Man, who has a bone to pick with Venom after he impersonated the wall-crawler and began terrorizing the mayor of New York.[3]
Spider-Man’s attack sends them falling over the edge of Asgard. Instead of falling to their deaths, they land on top of a passing hovercraft. From there, Venom grabs the web-slinger and slams him into the road below. Venom recovers from the fall first and prepares to crush Spider-Man’s head.[4] Before Venom can succeed he is ambushed by Ms. Marvel. As Venom recovers from the blow, Ms. Marvel asks what Venom’s weaknesses. Learning that Venom’s powers come from the symbiote, Ms. Marvel yanks Mac Gargan out of the symbiote by pulling out through Venom’s mouth.
However, this backfires when the Venom symbiote bonds with Ms. Marvel and decides that she will make a suitable host.[5] Both Spider-Man and Ms. Marvel try to fight the symbiote to no avail. Spider-Man then lures the symbiote to a nearby church hoping to use the bells to exploit its weakness to loud noise.[6] This plan backfires when Spider-Man discovers that there is no bell in the church tower. Carol cries out that she needs more energy to fight free. Hearing this, Spider-Man then shoves the Venom symbiote into a nearby hydro pole. The charge of electricity super-charges Ms. Marvel’s powers and allows her to break free from the symbiote.
While Carol recovers from her ordeal, the symbiote returns to Mac Gargan. Spider-Man is soon fighting Venom all over again. Gargan trips him up by mentioning his symbiote learned about Ms. Marvel’s feelings toward the wall-crawler. Luckily, Ms. Marvel is back in the fight before Venom can take advantage of the distraction. The pair then work together to defeat their foe. Spider-Man webs up Venom’s feet and begins spinning him around. Ms. Marvel then takes the door off a truck and uses it like a baseball bat to knock Venom out of town.
The pair take a break before heading back to Asgard to rejoin the main battle. Along the way, Spider-Man asks what Ms. Marvel’s feelings are for him. She tells them that they are complicated, but that’s not a bad thing.[7]

Continuity Notes
At the time of this story, the kingdom of Asgard existed above the city of Broxton, Oklahoma since Thor (vol. 3) #2.
Norman Osborn was made the top cop of America after he killed the leader of a Skrull invasion of Earth in Secret Invasion #8.
When Norman Osborn formed his Dark Avengers in Dark Avengers #1, he had members of his Thunderbolt team take on the identities of pre-existing heroes. Venom disguised himself as Spider-Man. His terrorizing the mayor was chronicled in Dark Reign: Sinister Spider-Man #1-4.
Venom says he was getting revenge against J. Jonah Jameson. Mac Gargan has had a hatred for Jameson atter Jonah funded the experiment that turned him into the Scorpion back in Amazing Spider-Man #20.
The Venom symbiote notes that there is a big hole in Carol Danver’s emotional memories. This is due to the fact that she once had her memories and personality drained from her body by Rogue. Although her mind was restored thanks to Professor X of the X-Men, she no longer had the emotions attached to her memories. See Avengers Annual #10.
Spider-Man has used this tactic in the past to get rid of the symbiote back in Web of Spider-Man #1.
Spider-Man once asked Ms. Marvel on a date in Ms. Marvel (vol. 2) #34. They finally went on that date in issue #47 of that series. This issue is the last time any potential romance between Spider-Man and Ms. Marvel is ever mentioned, so I guess that things didn’t work out for them.
