A World Gone Mad!
Thor and Sif have been kidnapped and brought to Mephisto’s domain. There the demon reveals that he has also captured their fellow exiles: Hildegard, Balder, the Warriors Three, Tana Nile, and Silas Grant. They are prisoners among an mass of other humans the lord of lies has kidnapped from Earth.
Thor refuses to remain a prisoner and tries to attack Mephisto only to be swarmed by a demonic horde. Thor manages to fight them off, by which point, Mephisto has entranced Sif and ordered her to attack him. Thor fends her off and Mephisto decides it is time to reveal his latest scheme. He has one of his demons take possession of one of the human prisoners. He intends to do with with all of his captives and return them to Earth where his demonic agents will do his bidding on the mortal world. He then orders the enthralled Balder and Warriors Three attack Thor.
The thunder god doesn’t wish to hurt his friends and uses Mjolnir to summon a vortex that carries them off to a nearby rock column where they cannot be harmed. Mephisto then summons an army of Nazi soldiers that are led by Adolf Hitler and some of history’s most notorious individuals to fight the thunder god. As Thor battles these armies, Mephisto admits that his ultimately goal was trying to steal Thor’s soul, something that would have been easy had the thunder god fought back against his friends. Soon, Thor fights against Mephisto one-on-one and manages to overpower the demonic lord and toss him into a nearb lava pool. Emerging from the molten rock, Mephisto boasts that this cannot stop him. That’s when Thor uses Mjolnir to cause the roof to collapse on him, burying Mephisto alive.
With the demon defeated, Thor’s captive allies are freed from his control. Thor then returns everyone to Earth, erasing the memories of the human’s experience in Mephisto’s realm. When the appear on Earth, Thor tells his friends that everyone will have their day with the devil and only he can ever know if that confrontation will end with victory, or defeat.
