Thor #380
Mjolnir’s Song
Jormungand has found Thor and seeks to fulfill the prophecy which foretold that the Midgard Serpent would slay Thor.[1]
The monster shrugs off blows from Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir and knocks the thunder god into a nearby mountain. Recovering from the blow, Thor flies back to his foe only for Jormungand to try to swallow him. However, Thor manages to smash his way to freedom, shattering the serpent’s teeth.
The pair charge at each other for the final blow and Thor strikes Jormungand so hard he vaporizes the monster’s head,[2] and sending the hero’s armored form flaming to the ground. Once the smoke clears and the flame die down, Thor’s armor is usurpingly empty.[3]
… This story continues in Mephisto Vs. #4.

Continuity Notes
This is according to Norse legend. In the Marvel Universe it has been seen in at least one previous Ragnarok cycle, as seen in Thor #293.
This is not the end of the Midgard Serpent, the creature is revived again in Thor #486-488.
Thor didn’t vanish, as we’ll learn next issue his body was liquified in the collision. He is still alive however, thanks to a curse put on him by Hela in issue #373, making his bones super brittle but incapable of healing. This curse will remain in effect until issue #383.
