Thor #387
Judgement Day!
While trying to return to Midgard, Thor finds himself stranded in the middle of space due to the fact that Asgard has become unmoored and is drifting through dimensions.[1] With no air to breath, the thunder god spots a nearby planet and flies toward it as fast as he can before he suffocates.
This world is the planet Pangoria, a world of pirates. The people are desperately trying to buy their way onto the few space ships left to flee the planet from some cosmic menace. However, they have to pay Pegas, the leader of this world and he expects a hefty price from all passengers. That’s when his men begin detecting Thor’s approach to the planet. Fearing that this might be the force that has come to destroy them, Pegas orders the doomsday missile launched. Monitoring the missile’s vector, they are surprised when Thor shatters the weapon as he flies past it to get to the planet surface. Impressed by his strength, Pegas suspects that this stranger might be strong enough to save them all and orders him recovered from the crash site. Traveling to the impact point, they find Thor unconscious and and take him back to the city. However, when they try to lift Mjolnir, they find it too heavy to carry and leave it behind.
Meanwhile, in Asgard, Balder is trying to figure out what can be done to find Thor when he is suddenly attacked by minions of the Egyptian death god Seth. They have traveled to Asgard through a portal that has opened due to the fact that the domain has become unmoored and is drifting between dimensions. The sound of battle is heard by Heimdall who races to his king’s aid and the pair drive off the invaders, who flee back through the portal.
Back on Pangoria, Thor awakens in a med lab and is greeted by a woman named Myla, assigned to care for Thor’s every need by Pegas. With the thunder god back on his feet, Myla takes him back to the crash site and tells him why the planet is in chaos. Even though this is a world of space pirates, Thor vows to do whatever he can to defend this world. When they arrive at the crash site, Pegas and his men are still trying to lift Mjolnir, to no avail. Picking up his weapon, Thor tells Pegas that he will help them against this threat. Returning to base, Pegas shows Thor that the threat is the Celestial known as Arishem the Judge. The massive space god has come to Pegas to judge the planet and has deemed it unworthy.
Thor agrees to try and stop the Celestials from destroying this world and puts on his enchanted armor to face the massive space god. As he approaches Arishem, he finds it fantastic that the alien has made its 50 year judgement on Pangoria after recently leaving Earth and wonders if the space gods can exist in multiple places simultaneously.[2] Thor tries what he can to get the Celestial’s attention but the massive space god shrugs off all his attacks, even when Thor channels the magnetic energy of Pangoria’s molten core. Moments later, Exitar the Exterminator — a Celestial even larger than Arishem — arrives to lay waste to the entire planet.
