The Two-Gun Kid tries to stop an out of control stagecoach when he notices that there is no driver on board. Leaping onto the horse reins, he climbs onto the buckboard and pulls the break to stop the horses. Finding the passengers are locked inside, the Kid shoots the lock off and frees them. He learns that they are from the town of Rawhide Ridge and that they were driven out by an outlaw named Slash Norbull who took over the town when he forced himself into the position of both mayor and sheriff. When they tried to rebel they were all forced into the coach and sent on their deadly ride. Learning that the locals don't want to leave their home, the Kid agrees to ride them back to Rawhide Ridge.

When they arrive, Two-Gun is confronted by Slash Norbull who tells the Kid to turn the stage around with it's passengers and leave. The Kid refuses and a fight breaks out between the two men. Before the Kid can draw he is warned that Norbull could kill him in a gunfight. The Kid instead decides to play on Slash's ego, telling him that he heard Norbull's name across the border and came to see if he lives up to his reputation and then ask to join up with his gang. At the witness of the disappointed locals, Norbull accepts the Two-Gun Kid's offer to join his gang and the Kid is invited back into the saloon.

There, Slash tells the Kid that the land is very wealthy and he intends to take it over by forcing all the land owners off it and then buying the property up cheap, and that the people are powerless to stop him as he is the sheriff and that he can do as he pleases. This is enough for the Two-Gun Kid who abruptly gets up and tells Slash that the people will just have to elect a new sheriff and walks out. The Kid then meets with the locals and convinces them to have an election to find a new sheriff. When Slash tries to get his men to try and pressure the people into voting for him instead, the Kid is there to stop their intimidation tactics. Furious, Slash orders the Kid to face him man-to-man, and the Kid is more than happy to oblige. When the Kid jumps down from a rooftop, Slash tries to cheat by shooting the Kid in his right arm, making it useless in a draw. However the Kid lives up to his name by using his left arm to draw his other gun and use it to disarm Norbull. The Kid then knocks out Norbull and promises that he will prevent anyone from tampering with the vote and see to it the people get a US Marshal to defend them as well.
