The Land Where Killers Dwell

At the Gallery Mall in Philadelphia, people are thrown into a panic when patrons suddenly start disappearing into thin air.

Meanwhile, at a gym in New York, Flash Thompson is in a sparring match with Valkyrie. He shows a lot of bravado but he knows he is outmatched. The fight quickly ends when Val summons her sword and cuts through the legs provided to Flash by the symbiote he wears. She tries to make up for this deception by kissing him but they are interrupted when Flash gets a call from Katy Kiernan, a reporter from the Daily Inquisitor.

She is calling from the port in Philadelphia as she is breaking into one of the warehouses. However, before she can tell Flash what she is doing, she runs into the U-Foes who quickly subdue her. Vector assures his teammates that this woman won’t be able to figure out what they are doing in the area, pointing out that anyone who comes looking for her would be foolish to take them on.

Soon, Agent Venom arrives in Philadelphia and tracks down the motel that Katy has been staying at. There he finds her notes on something called Project Rainbow and how it might be tied in to the disappearance of both naval ships and regular citizens. Suddenly, the room begins catching on fire prompting Agent Venom to make a hasty retreat. Outside he sees the cause is by X-Ray from the U-Foes. He soon finds himself in a life-or-death battle with Ironclad.[1] After Ironclad is taken down by a grenade, Vapor tries to subdue Venom by turning into poison gas, but his symbiote is able to filter out its harmful effects. The three villains decide to change tactics and begin slaughtering the innocent people that are trying to flee the scene.

When Agent Venom tries to get as many people to safety as possible he takes a direct blast from X-Ray, knocking him out.

While back at the U-Foes hideout, Vector confronts Katy and explains that she is going to be their latest test subject of the Project Rainbow teleportation device, which has already killed everyone it has been tested on.
