At the home of millionaire Phineas Larrapy, mourners prepare for the demise of the terminally ill man. However, Larrapy has made a miraculous recovery and looks forward to his doctor telling them that he survived his recent heart attack. Ignoring his doctor’s orders to get back into bed, Phineas begins of thinking about spending all of his fortunes to build a new boys club on Monmouth Corners! One of his heirs quickly calls a man named Joe Morgan to tell him he can’t see Monmouth Corners anymore now that his uncle has survived. Slipping out of the back way, Larrapy is approached by Morgan who asks to buy the property on Monmouth Corners. Larrpy rejects him outright, reiterating that he intends to build a boys club on the land. As Phinneas walks away, Morgan tells his bodyguard, Butch, that he needs this land so he can build a warehouse so his gang can store all their stolen merchandise. That’s when bodyguard recalls that Larrapy is using the Mill’s Construction Company, where he used to work. They then conspire for the henchman to get his old job back and then stage an accident when old man Phineas visits the job site.
The next day, Butch cuts loose a girder, making one of the workers fall to his death. This prompts everyone to stop working until Phineas comes and inspects the site in order to make sure the site is still safe. When Butch learns the news he calls his boss to let him know. As Butch goes to hang up the phone, the hero known as Volton comes popping out of the phone. He has heard the entire plot and vows that nobody is going to die this evening. Volton then knocks out Butch and takes his place.
When Phineas Larrapy arrives on the scene he demands to check out the site even though it is late in the evening. Volton joins him and when Joe Morgan and his men arrive to push the Larrapy off the building, Volton is there to prevent them from murdering the old man. Volton makes short work of the crooks, taking out most of them by electrifying the girder they are standing on. While trying to flee the scene, the electrical bolts catch the back of Joe’s sports coat on fire. Having had enough Joe surrenders and soon Volton is turning them all over to the authorities. Thankful for Volton’s help, Phineas tells the hero he must come to the boys club on the day will be opened.
On opening day, Volton and the gathered crowd are surprised when Phineas Larrapy plays baseball with the kids. Not only does the elderly man manage to hit a home run he also manages to run the entire diamond much to the surprise of everyone weatching.
